Brief introduction of ScGeneBank:
scGeneBank is an intuitive platform that combines single-cell transcriptomes from 136 species with 597 curated gene sets across 28 biological categories, enabling cross-species, organ- and cell-type specific analysis. Its eight interactive module, GeneSets, Species, EvoScreening, OrganScreening, StemAtlas, AgingScope, PathoView and DeathMap, facilitate exploration of evolutionary patterns, stemness, aging, disease and cell-death signatures with detailed gene-level annotations.
Species
The Species module provides a powerful interface for cross-species analysis of gene expression. Featuring curated single-cell RNA-seq data from 136 species, it allows users to explore how functional gene sets are expressed across different species and organs. To enable direct comparison, all non-human genes are mapped to their human homologs. Users can choose from 28 gene set categories and visualize expression patterns across evolutionary lineages using interactive filters for species and organ. Homology tables for each species are also available for download within the module. By revealing both conserved and species-specific expression signatures, this module is a valuable tool for evolutionary biology, comparative genomics, and translational research.
